The Haiti Leadership Foundation at Honorary Ambassador
January 2010The Haiti Leadership Foundation provides educational facilities to post earthquake communities to help them have access to a better life. I learned in Africa that education helps to take people out of poverty. In reality, it alone provides families and their children with a pathway out of the cycle of poverty. Investing in it is also smart as it promotes understanding, tolerance and friendship among the differing racial and religious groups who will eventually inhabit and politicize the island. We started this organisation in Tabarre, Port au Prince soon after the earthquake after realising the generosity of spirit and humanity that Gladys Dorcilien had as she talked to me from the broken rubble of her fallen school . The new 500 student school was relocated on a piece of land located in Mirebalais about one hour from Tabarre as this part of the region is also said to safe from earthquakes
